Data on Enacted Curriculum Study: Summary of Findings
Abstract
Experimental Design Study of Effectiveness of DEC Professional Development Model in Urban Middle SchoolsThe study findings summarized in this paper inform education leaders and educators about the effectiveness of the DEC data-based model for evaluating and improving instruction. Readers can consider the use of the DEC model to help to focus and direct their professional development programs, especially the initiatives aimed toward improving quality of instruction in science and math. The paper includes graphs, tables, and content maps illustrating the use of enacted curriculum data in schools, and summarizing study findings. The study results inform education researchers about the degree to which the effects of the model did have significant results on instruction as evaluated through the experimental design.
