The Missing Piece of the Proficiency Puzzle: Recommendations for Involving Families and Community in Improving Student Achievement
Abstract
This report from the state of Kentucky makes specific recommendations for increasing family and community involvement in schools, and can provide a useful example for other states seeking to increase parental involvement, especially in STEM fields. "[P]arents understand the need for parent involvement to be a means to an end in schools, rather than an end in itself. It is our hope that this guide will help educators move to that perspective as well, so that engaging parents becomes an important strategy for improving achievement."
